Yes, primary disinfectant is still required but you will be able to reduce the amount of chlorine or bromine by 90% and your pool/spa will need half as many treatments as using disinfectant alone. 

Every pool and hot tub is different based on its usage and size. We’ve found through our own testing and conversations with our customers that when you use Ocion Blue you can expect to reduce disinfectants by 90% and treat your pool half as much through the year. We make it easy to know how much Ocion Blue to use and how often with our copper test strips and mobile app.  

 One of the advantages of Ocion Blue is not having to change the water, often extending the length of time required to refill your pool/spa by two to three times. 

 By using a simple Copper test kit or test strip, these two options are sold on our website.

 To use the Insta-Test Strip:
• Simply immerse the Insta-Test strips 6" into your pool for 2 seconds.
• Remove the strip and shake once to remove the excess water.
• View and compare the test pad against the supplied chart to read the amount of Copper PPM (parts per million.)
• Ideal copper levels should be maintained at 0.5 - 1 ppm at all times.

To prevent an overdose, do not add Ocion Blue except during normal maintenance cycles. Double check your water volume calculation to make sure you are adding the proper amount of Ocion Blue. Monitor the copper level before and after treatment using a copper kit. Never use copper or copper/silver ionizers in combination of Ocion Blue in the pool. 

Yes! Ocion Blue is safe on all pool surface. Make sure the newly constructed or resurfaced plaster pool surface is fully cured before you use it. 

Ocion Blue is compatible and stable in the presence of:

- ozonators
- UV light systems
- D.E., sand, and cartridge filters
- saltwater systems & chlorine generators

**Ocion Blue is compatible with most chemicals such as chlorine, bromine, oxychloride, ozone, and salts chlorine generators when added to the pool, spa or hot tub. However, mixing any chemicals together with Ocion Blue prior to application is not recommended. Never pour chemicals together in the same container. Never add water to chemicals, instead add chemical to water. Never add chemicals to your pool close to the surface at the same spot time after time. Apply at multiple spots and avoid repetition of spotting. When you apply concentrated chemicals, never allow them to contact skin or pool surfaces directly.
